The Company
An endeavor that has taken shape out of the collective intellect and passion of a dozen young students of the University of Kerala, SooryaKiran Bioinformatics (P) Ltd, the new generation bioinformatics company, is propelled by the thought of “contributing knowledge to enrich the humanity”. Located in the campus of University of Kerala at Karyavattom in Trivandrum in Kerala, SooryaKiran has several trendsetting elements to its credit. SooryaKiran has managed to put Kerala on the bioinformatics map by being the first such company to be set up in the State.
SooryaKiran Bioinformatics (P) Ltd was launched in 2005. The valuable inputs from Dr. Oommen V. Oommen, Head, Department of zoology, University of Kerala and the support of the University of Kerala and its Vice Chancellor Dr. M. K. Ramachandran Nair played a significant role in helping the company make an admirable start. The dream plan was concretized through the unstinted backing of the Honorary Director of Centre for Bioinformatics, Dr. Achuthsankar S. Nair who gave “wings to the dreams”. With ambitions of taking the company among the top 50 bioinformatics companies in the world in the next ten years, the determined group behind SooryaKiran wants it to be seen by the world as a knowledge base in bioinformatics. |
